The Association

The Italian Internet Provider Association (AIIP) was established in June 1995, at the dawn of the Internet revolution in our country.

The Association

For twenty-seven years, AIIP has represented and given voice to the numerous small and medium-sized operators that significantly contribute to the diffusion of ultra-wide band and Internet services in Italy, to the achievement and coverage of areas suffering from the digital divide, guaranteeing flexibility and real proximity to the Customer.

It is made up of over 60 telecommunications and Internet operators – with a total of over 200,000 business Customers, 1 million residential Customers, 150 million euros of annual investments and a total turnover of over 900 million euros – that offer different types of Internet services throughout the Peninsula: from connectivity also in Wireless or Optical Fibre to data centre services and more.

The main purposes of AIIP are:

  • The definition and dissemination of quality standards and rules of conduct within the Internet offe
  • The promotion of the Internet as a productive and effective tool for companies as well as for residential users
  • The co-ordination of research initiatives of common interest to members, on technological and market topics
  • The establishment of relations with international organisations with similar aims
